Most people might have realized that Kvåsfossen has become a national wild salmon center. On that occasion, the opening hours of Kvåsfossen will change, and we will be open more than before:

Wednesdays 09.00 – 15.00
Sundays 11.00 – 16.00

We want to be able to convey about the wild salmon, and every day fun activities are arranged.

You are welcome during our opening hours. Throughout the day there will be activities for all ages. Our subject manager Anne Charlotte will be available almost every Wednesday and is happy to have a salmon chat. If you are a group (10+ pers.) who want to come for a visit, please let us know in advance. Then we are more than happy to make a separate plan for your group 😊

Every Sunday at 12.00 children’s activities are arranged. This can vary between everything from child guidance, sluice workshop, throwing with a fly rod or e.g. nature trail. This is just a small bunch of the different activities we vary between. The activities are adapted to the age group of the children who come.

Every Sunday at 13:00 the guided tour is arranged. On this trip you will learn about the life cycle of the wild salmon, an exciting journey from freshwater to the sea – and hopefully back again. Did you know, for example. that salmon can dive to depths up to a thousand meters in the sea? You will learn what a salmon ladder is and why it is important that we take care of all the species in nature. Welcome. Also on Sundays, it is an advantage if groups (10+ people) slet us know in advance. Then we tailor the guiding to your wishes.

Group visits:

For all groups, whether you are a school class, association or family of ten people or more, we can open the center no matter what day it is. You must remember to report in advance, and no later than 5 days in advance. Contact Anne Charlotte Westerås, subject manager (, and we will tailor the plan together. For schools there are separate prices. Contact us for more information.

Want us to visit your school?

If you do not have the opportunity to visit us, we are happy to come to your school. Together with the teacher, we agree on which competence goals you want to achieve, and then we tailor the plan accordingly. We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to learn about the fantastic wild salmon.

The illustration above shows an approximately normal annual cycle with us, but we do not yet have all our activities in place for this year. Stay tuned for updates and feel free to sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of the page.
